Geoffrey Cowan is the University Professor of Communication and Annenberg Family Chair in Communication Leadership at University of Southern California, and the president of The Annenbergy Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, a centre which provides retreats and space for reflection for world leaders and politicians. Throughout his career, he has been an important force across a spectrum of communication and public policy arenas – as a lawyer, academic administrator, government official, best-selling author, distinguished professor, playwright, and Emmy Award-winning producer. His play, Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, was co-written with Leroy Aarons. It was first produced in 1991, before being revised and revived in 2007.
