But things change quickly when free-spirited Aunt Lily shows up: Godfrey remarries a white woman, Ermina discovers boys, and Ernestine is torn between Communism and bebop! Playwright Lynn Nottage received the 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner for her play Ruined.

Lynn Nottage is an award-winning writer for stage and screen. An associate professor at Columbia University, and a lecturer in playwriting at Yale, she is also the co-founder of Market Road Films, a production company whose projects include The Notorious Mr. Bout (2014) and Remote Control (2013). She has been awarded many prizes over the course of her career, including the Pulitzer Prize, a Drama Desk award as well as several Obies and New York Drama Critics' Circle awards. Her plays include By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, Ruined, Intimate Apparel, Crumbs from the Table of Jo, Fabluation, or The Re-Education of Undine, Las Meninas and Poof!
