Nell Benjamin is a playwright and lyricist, perhaps best known for her work on Legally Blonde: The Musical, which ran on Broadway for eighteen months, earning Benjamin and her writing partner, Larry O'Keefe, nominations for Drama Desk and Tony Awards, before transferring to London where it won three Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical. A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, and Harvard, Massachusetts, her other work includes Because of Winn Dixie, Cam Jansen, The Explorers Club and Pirates!, the latter a free adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance.
